Join us for the South’s own version….The JOHN 6:35 BIG EVENT on September 26, 27 & 28, 2008 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in beautiful Wake Forest, NC. The challenging message of World Youth Day is being spread throughout the United States by an initiative of Eucharistic Retreats. The JOHN 6:35 BIG EVENT is responding to the call of Pope John Paul II & Pope Benedict XVI to enable young people to live & proclaim the Gospel. You are invited to join our retreat masters, the Franciscan Friars of Renewal, with hundreds of other young adults. It’s a weekend full of awesome music, prayer, adoration, and learning more about our Catholic Faith. We hope to see you there! |

This retreat is based on the Gospel of St. John, Chapter 6, "I Am the Bread of Life." The retreat is open to all young adults ages 13 - 30. The Eucharistic centered Retreat includes the Mass, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, adoration, talks, music, catechesis, prayer, meditation and fellowship.
This format provides a means to help young people develop a deep and lasting personal relationship with Jesus Christ, especially in the Eucharist, "the source and summit of Christian life." (Lumen Gentium 11) Christ present to us in scripture, in the sacraments, in the liturgy, in prayer, and in each other, but especially in the Eucharist, is the focus of the weekend (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1088).
All teaching and instruction are taken from Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, encyclicals and documents approved by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. The liturgical practices at the retreat follow the guidelines as set out in the "General Instruction of the Roman Missal". |
