Eucharistic Retreat
This retreat is based on the Gospel of St. John, Chapter 6, "I Am the Bread of Life." The retreat is open to all young adults ages 13 - 30.  The Eucharistic centered Retreat includes the Mass, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, adoration, talks, music, catechesis, prayer, meditation and fellowship.

This format provides a means to help young people develop a deep and lasting personal relationship with Jesus Christ, especially in the Eucharist, "the source and summit of Christian life." (Lumen Gentium 11) Christ present to us in scripture, in the sacraments, in the liturgy, in prayer, and in each other, but especially in the Eucharist, is the focus of the weekend (Catechism of the Catholic Church 1088).

All teaching and instruction are taken from Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, encyclicals and documents approved by the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. The liturgical practices at the retreat follow the guidelines as set out in the "General Instruction of the Roman Missal".

Spirituality
The charism of the John 6:35 retreat is to lead young people, through prayer and teaching instruction before the Blessed Sacrament, to a personal encounter and ever-deepening union of heart and mind with the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Christ. Through Eucharistic centered retreats, John6:35 Retreat responds to the call of Pope John Paul II to prepare young people to live and proclaim the Gospel of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Through the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, the spirituality of the John 6:35 Eucharistic Youth Retreat seeks to imitate Mary, the Mother of God, by fostering a spirit of prayer, adoration and obedience to the will of God.

Goals
The primary goal of this retreat is to inspire and prepare young people to live and give witness to the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ, especially in this decade of evangelization called for by the Holy Father.
  • To promote devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist through a worldwide network of youth gathered in prayer around the Blessed Sacrament
  • To promote devotion to Mary, the Virgin Mother of God, especially through the rosary
  • To promote fidelity to the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Magisterium
